SeaRad named 38th largest radiology company in U.S.

Seattle Radiologists was listed as one of the largest radiology companies in the country in the December issue of Radiology Business Journal. The survey ranks radiology companies by number of full-time radiologists and was completed from July-September, 2009.

 

 


SeaRad wins award for energy savings

Seattle Radiologists has been named 2009 Conservation Ambassador from property manager Wright Runstad & Company for being the tenant that showed the most progress on energy savings in 2009.

At Seattle Radiologists, employees have been working hard to lower our energy use by turning off computer monitors and lights whenever possible.

Good job, everyone, on remembering to flip the switch to help save energy!


Bryson Kuntz wins SeaRad holiday card contest

Congratulations to five-year-old Bryson Kuntz for winning the Seattle Radiologists holiday greeting card contest.

Each year SeaRad encourages its employees to have their young relatives submit drawings to be used in the company holiday card.

This year's winner is the brother of last year's winner and the nephew of PET-CT technologist Angela Harrell. Judges loved Bryson's extremely, um, jolly rendering of Santa.

All the entries are posted in the waiting room of our Nordstrom Medical Tower location. Stop by and take a look.

Dr. Manrita Sidhu elected president of pediatric radiology group

Congratulations to Dr. Manrita Sidhu on her election of President of the Society for Pediatric Interventional Radiology(SPIR).
Manrita Sidhu The Society for Pediatric Interventional Radiology was started in 2007 at the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) meeting in Seattle.
The SPIR society held the first scientific meeting Oct 23-24 2009 in Napa, California. At this meeting Dr. Sidhu was elected president to a two-year term.
SPIR has 88 active members internationally with 60 of those in the U.S.

Karen Leppert joins Seattle Radiologists as Chief Operations Officer

Please join us in welcoming Karen Leppert to Seattle Radiologists. Karen took over as Chief Operations Officer in October and will be overseeing clinic operations. Karen Leppert

Karen graduated in 1983 from the Holy Family Hospital Radiology Technologist Program in Spokane Washington. She began her Radiology career at Inland Imaging in Spokane performing CT, Mammography, Fluoroscopy, General X-Ray and Lead MRI Technologist duties. In 1994, Karen relocated to Seattle Washington where she accepted the position of Radiology Manager at Providence Everett Medical Center. Karen also spent two years working for Siemens Medical Systems CT and MRI division as a Product Sales Manager.

Karen joined The Everett Clinic in 1998 and assumed the role of Radiology Director in 2004. In 2009, Karen was also assigned Director of The Everett Clinic’s Improvement System (TEC-IS) where she performed as an internal consultant to support the organizations continuous improvement goal of embedding the Toyota Production System Lean Principles into their business strategy.

Professional experience includes oversight of clinical operations for a multi-specialty outpatient imaging center, business and strategic planning, systems and workflow efficiency, implementation of evidence based imaging guidelines, workforce and succession planning, policy deployment and daily management programs, continuous improvement initiatives using PDCA, new business development and marketing, policy and procedure compliance and financial accountability.


Seattle Metropolitan lists three SeaRad radiologists as 'Tops'

Drs. Kristin Manning, Udo Schmiedl and Keith Keyser were named "Top Doctors" in the August edition of Seattle Metropolitan. All were listed in the Diagnostic Radiology section. Just another testament to the quality and compassion provided at SeaRad. Thanks to all the area medical professionals for being so supportive of our team in nominating us for this honor.


SeaRad radiologists named 'Top Docs' by peers in Seattle Magazine

Congratulations to Drs. Kristin Manning, Udo Schmiedl and Philip Vogelzang for being named "Top Doctors" in the July 2009 Seattle Magazine. Each year the magazine surveys local physicians about the doctors THEY think are the best doctors in the area. Drs. Manning and Schmiedl were named in the Diagnostic Radiology section while Dr. Vogelzang was mentioned in the Interventional Radiology section. Congrats to all!


SeaRad welcomes new radiologists

Please join us in welcoming our newest radiologists: Dr. R. Torrance Andrews, Dr. Wayne Fang and Dr. Paul Farris.

Dr. Andrews specializes in vascular and interventional radiology as well as image-guided surgery. He has been in academic practice for 14 years and served as Chief of Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the University of Washington since 2003. He's been an invited speaker and faculty member at numerous national and international vascular and Interventional Radiology meetings. Dr. Andrews has received multiple honors, including teacher of the year at John Hopkins and being named a fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology.

Dr. Fang specializes in Neuroradiology and Diagnostic Radiology and has completed a two-year fellowship in neuroradiology at the University of Utah with reknowned radiologists Anne Osborn and Ric Harnsberger. He specializes in advanced neuro MRI techniques including functional imaging and has given talks on neurodegenerative disease, head and neck imaging and Antiphospholipid Syndrome among many other topics.

Dr. Farris specializes in Cross-sectional imaging and Diagnostic Radiology. His interests include musculoskeletal MRI, neuroradiology, whole Body MR, and ultrasound. Dr. Farris also has a strong background in routine interventional procedures, including arthrography, CT or US guided biopsies and drain placements.


Congratulations to Dawson Kuntz, winner of 2008 holiday greeting card contest

Eight-year-old Dawson Kuntz, nephew of PET/CT Technologist Angela Harrell, won the Seattle Radiologists greeting card contest this year.

You can see all the great drawings by visiting our offices. There were many great entries, but judges loved Dawson's rendering of Santa delivering presents to Seattle Radiologists headquarters in the Nordstrom Medical Tower.

Dr. Kristin Manning wins Top Doc award from Seattle Magazine     

In August 2008, Kristin Manning received the Seattle Metropolitan Golden Stethoscope Award along with Dr. Udo Schmiedl.

This month she wins again, this time the Seattle Magazine Top Doc award.


Seattle Radiologists Receives PET ACR Accreditation
Seattle Radiologists in Seattle, Wash. has been awarded a accreditation in Positron Emission Tomography as the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology.

“Like our recent CT scan accreditation, this is another great message from the experts in the field that SeaRad continues to lead in the area's imaging technology," said Tricia West, Chief Operations Officer at Seattle Radiologists.

The ACR, headquartered in Reston, Virg., awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of the practice. Evaluations are conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment. The surveyors report their findings to the ACR’s Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report.


Breast Imaging expert Dr. Eric Rosen featured at SMRT Seminar
SeaRad Breast Imaging expert Dr. Eric Rosen will be one of the featured speakers at the upcoming SMRT Northwest Regional Educational Seminar on Oct. 4, 2008.

The seminar will be held at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and will cover a range of topics sure to interest MRI enthusiasts of all experience levels.

SeaRad Docs named 'Top Docs' by peers

    

Congratulations to Dr. Udo Schmiedl and Dr. Kristin Manning for receiving the 2008 Seattle Metropolitan Golden Stethoscope Award.

The Top Docs award is given by Seattle Metropolitan magazine each year to the doctors who receive the most votes by other medical professionals in the area.

Doctors are asked each year to fill out a survey naming the doctors they'd choose to treat themselves and their loved ones. The doctors receiving the most votes are named "Top Docs."

Drs. Manning and Schmiedl both took awards in the Diagnostic Radiology category.


Seattle Radiologists Receives CT ACR Accreditation
Seattle Radiologists in Seattle, Wash. has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in Computed Tomography as the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology.

“This accreditation continues to validate our leadership position when it comes to imaging services in the Northwest,” said Tricia West, Chief Operations Officer at Seattle Radiologists. “We’re very excited about this achievement.”


Dr. Dae Hee Bang joins Seattle Radiologists
Dr. Dae Hee Bang joined Seattle Radiologists on July 1, 2008. Dr. Bang graduated from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. He completed his residency and fellowship at the University of Washington, specializing in breast imaging. He was also Acting Instructor of Breast Imaging at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Dr. Bang is certified by the American Board of Radiology.


Additional 3T MRI
Seattle Radiologists has installed an additional 3T MRI unit at its Broadway office location. With the addition of another 3T, Seattle Radiologists is the only outpatient radiology practice with more than one 3T MRI machine in Washington State. The new unit will perform 3T MRI imaging of neurology, orthopedic, breast, foot/ankle, and body imaging. To schedule a test on the 3T MRI machine, call: 206-292-7734.


Dedicated Breast Imaging Radiologist joins SeaRad
Dr. Eric Rosen has joined Seattle Radiologists as a member of our Breast Imaging Program. Dr. Rosen was born in London, England, graduated from Cornell University and attended University of California, San Francisco Medical School from 1987-1991. He completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at UCLA in 1996, and then completed a fellowship in Breast Imaging at UCSF. He is certified by the American Board of Radiology and is a fellow in the Society of Breast Imaging. Dr. Rosen was an Assistant Professor at Duke University from 1997-2005, and Associate Professor at University of Washington 2005-2007. His expertise is in breast imaging, including breast MRI and image guided breast procedures.
