SeaRad doctor scales Mount Rainier with organ transplant patients
Congratulations to Dr. Udo Schmiedl (left) on his successful climb of Mount Rainier with a group of patients from the Swedish Organ Transplant Program on July 11, 2009. Dr. Schmiedl and one of the patients made it all the way to the summit and all of the patients made it above 10,000 feet. This fantastic achievement was also captured by KOMO TV. You can see their story here.

Ryther thanks SeaRad for support

We received such a wonderful thank you from the Cottages and Children at Ryther Child Center that we just had to pass it along. And, you're welcome kids, glad we could help!
Here's the note from the great team at Ryther:
Dear Seattle Radiologists,
A heartfelt thank you from the Cottages and Children at Ryther Child Center for making a real difference in the lives of the children and families we serve. Please enjoy and share the story below and the card attached. And thank you again for caring. Because of your generosity, Ryther can direct more of its funds toward providing the services and therapeutic treatments these children need and deserve.
"A Holiday Memory" from Ryther Child Center.
The night before Christmas, Gavin, Cottage A residential counselor, called the cottage disguised as Santa. He chatted with each child and let them hear his "sleigh bells". After setting out Santa’s favorite cookies and carrots for his reindeer, each child was tucked in with their first set of gifts -- a brand new set of cozy pajamas and a new stuffed animal to fall asleep with.
At 7:00 am on Christmas morning, after all of the children had woken up, everyone came down together to open their gifts. The children spent all morning with their new toys and trying on their new clothes, which according to them were all from Santa. After opening their presents, everyone enjoyed a special breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes.
"The kids were so excited and overjoyed at their gifts. They all received special items that had been picked out just for them; it really meant a lot that that they received what was on their list and not just any toy. They were so grateful! The kids appreciated having a traditional Christmas where they could all be together, opening gifts and sharing their toys," said Shaudia, Residential Counselor in Cottage C. One little boy, who received Pokemon and Yugioh toys, exclaimed: "this is the best Christmas ever!"
That night, thanks to donors who provided turkeys and all the fixings, the staff cooked a delicious Christmas dinner. The children in the cottage normally eat in two shifts, but for this special meal, they were still in their new pajamas and they all sat down together for an experience that will help them reclaim their childhood and restore their hope for the future. Thank you for making all of this possible.
